I was very excited about the expected litter between my little red girl Surge and Scheme. It was Surge's first litter and I was a bit nervous about a safe delivery but just like her Mom Edge, Surge didn't let us down as she went into labor and easily started whelping puppies. I was very lucky to be present for the delivery and much to everyone's surprise, a gold and white puppy was born.
Of course this golden puppy became my personal favorite of the litter and I kept
lavishing attention on him. There comes a time when you just know that something
was meant to be and for me, it was this tiny gold and white border collie puppy.
I came up with a name for him soon after his eyes opened, secretly hoping that
he would indeed be mine and could stay here at Hob Nob farm. It was pretty much
the official joke around the house as little "Chiquita" quickly became "Bru". Of
course it did take some getting used to watching a litter of black/white puppies
with one gold puppy in the mix.
Sure enough Hob Nob Crème Brulé or "Bru" was born to stay and I love him even more today. He has started his agility training and will soon begin his herding training this Spring. He reminds me so much of his father Scheme and Mom Surge, with his willingness to please and great work ethic and ...."just show me what you want and I'll do my best for you Mom!" is his motto. He is a great cuddler but when it's agility training time his eyes light up and can't wait to begin. He loves to jump, weave and climb. He is my first male border collie puppy and we are learning new things together. I can't wait for the day we can walk up to the agility start line to begin our agility journey together.
I just know that Bru and I...."were meant to fly"....thank you Jan DeMello for
giving me this opportunity. Gail Smith, WA
